We have just been rejected for the second time for a PIP application for my 31-year old adult son who has recently been diagnosed with Severe Autism level 2 'requiring substantial support'. We are appealing, so now it goes to HM Courts & Tribunal Service. I am feeling completely overwhelmed and out-of-my-depth, and as his Mum I am aware I have no legal experience or expertise, and we are only allowed one hearing. Is anyone able to offer me any legal advice and/or support?

Hi Rachel, this is not an area I specialise in but Rosie Banks, Community Care Solicitor, has recommended Michael McCann at 4 Your Benefit – 07401 558 602 or michael.mccann@4yourbenefit.co.uk. She says he has a very reasonable hourly rate and she understands he has won the vast majority of appeals brought.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Hi Rachel, have the DWP given you any reason why the mandatory consideration was refused? If you want to arrange a call I may be able to help.

Hi Rachel, I don't have expertise with PIP applications but my colleague will be able to assist. I can pass on your enquiry to her and will post a response very shortly.
