Q:

My daughter has PMLD and will be 18 in November how do I go about applying to the Court of Protection for a deputyship?

Can I do this myself or do I need professional help and what is the cost involved?

You can apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed deputy for your daughter, yourself. There are two types of deputyship, for welfare decisions and for property and financial decisions. The application forms can be found online -

The form has guidance at the end that will help you complete the form. There is a cost to submit the application to the court but depending on your circumstances you can apply to waive the court fees
