ALN in Wales
Is it correct for an LA to inform parents that they can not visit a specialist placement (secondary school with ALN provision attached) if they have not been allocated a place there?
Year 6 child with SLD and ADHD. We have been offered a placement at one school with the same set up but it is out of our catchment area and will result in a long journey to and from school for our child. We view the placement school next week but LA have said we would need to turn down the placement school in order to appeal for the school that is in our catchment area but we as yet have not been allowed to see this school as the LA are blocking a visit. We could be potentially turning down a school for one that may not meet need anyway but we cant understand why we cannot visit both schools to compare and then decide if we need to appeal or accept. Is there anything legally we can go back to the LA with to address this please?
