Just to complete the loop, if a parent, young person, alternative person - or anyone else for that matter - want to find the costs to an LA of resisting a claim (disability) or appeal (relating to the contents of an EHCp)  - including disbursement such as the costs of instructing counsel etc -  they can consider making a request pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 2000

A key point is that it can cost no money - parents can represent themselves.  Also, some parents can apply for legal aid funding to pay for help to prepare the case.

The article gives as much info as possible on possible legal costs (well as much as possible but there's always the problem that when parents used a lawyer, how much the parent paid isn't published).

The article has thoughts on all this, plus it points you in the right direction for more info.
